Chapter 2.2, "Rosettes and Ornamental Art," is a first attempt to search for an exercise TT succeeded in being distracted from in church in a message from Rev. A.D. It is a treasure that has changed her life from being ordinary, which is hard to imagine, to being the special person she is today.
Take a piece of blank paper and pencil. Write what perfection means to you in a word or phrase. Turn the sheet over. Write two words indicating what someone who is as close to you as possible in daily life does that "really yanks your chain," (her expression). Now, below these words write two words indicating those qualities you admire the most in a person as close to you as possible, this time, someone you actually do admire. Then draw a circle around these four words. And here is where TT's mind wandered, so this next may be quite wrong. Now write the vows as in a Buddhist gatha, just a couple of words one and two, that given an ordinary life situation, positive or negative, you would practice that has something responsive to do with the four items. And finally realize that the two qualities you most criticize are yours and the two that you most admire are equally yours, for how could you identify them otherwise? posted by TT 10:57 AM
