For our house is our corner of the world. As has often been said, it is our first universe, a real cosmos in every sense of the word.... All really inhabited space bears the essence of the notion of home.... The sheltered being gives perceptible limits to his shelter. He experiences the house in its reality and virtuality, by means of thought and dreams.... The daydream deepens to the point where an immemorial domain opens up for the dreamer of a home beyond man's earliest memory.... Through dreams, the various dwelling-places in our lives co-penetrate and retain the treasures of former days.--Gaston Bachelard, tr. Maria Jolas, *The Poetics of Space*

The beauty of the Poetics of Space begins in its first pages, when Bachelard considers space as frozen time. For example, a daydream, a thing of duration, has spatial dimension where it occurs, such as all alone in a room of a house.

Still despite centuries of research, no historical Jesus has come to light. His story was not merely overlaid with myth, it was mythic to the core. This Jesus seems to have made little or no impression on his contemporaries. No literate person of his own time mentioned him in any known writing. Evil THE DEVIL IN DRAGDue to centuries of unrest upon matters pertaining to sexuality, especially in regards to homosexuality and masturbation, I find it incumbent upon myself to make it crystal clear where GodConsciousness.com stands upon these issues. At this point, God created Hell. Most homosexual activity is actually masturbation, because the orgasm is obtained without regular sexual intercourse of man and woman. Oral and anal sex are a kind of masturbation. Bestiality is also masturbation when the orgasm is reached. The Bible says it is an abomination and a perversion any kind of homosexual activity and bestiality, and both shall be put to death (Lev.18:22-23, 20:13-15). Number one, we should never judge anyone else (Matt.7: 1-4). Number two, Jesus can deliver us from any sin and any vice or iniquity. At Calvary he paid for both, for all our sins, and for the factories to make sins, for our iniquities or vices, as described by Isaiah 53:4-5. Any time you and I commit a sin, we should go immediately to Confession, up to seventy times seven, always!… always trust in the Lord!… and God will deliver us at its due time, for the Israelites took 430 years to be delivered from the Egyptian slavery!.Rome salutes you!'Garden of Earthly Delight' by Hieronymous Bosch circa 1500The system was unusually exploitative and brutal, even in Colonial Africa. Enjoy this little snippet from Herb Caen, "Out to Lunch," April 8, 1989.

Lunch is an invitation or a brushoff... "Hey, long time no see! Let's have lunch one of these days." Other guy, a touch too eagerly: "Sure, when?" First guy, moving away rapidly: "I'll give you a call - we'll set something up." As Prof. C. Northcote Parkinson once put it so wisely, so well: "Delay is the deadliest form of denial." When a Cal student asked, "What does that mean, exactly?" Parkinson replied, "I'll tell you later."

"Dog bit me."

Geo. tells a tale of the Mill Valley P.O. One carrier whose route was up in the tony hills would go on disability twice a year for dog bites. Unlike the huge Rottweilers and mastiffs in the flatlands, his potential vicious attackers were always toys. He'd put a dog biscuit in his sock, and his mark would come up to him and nip at his heels. Quickly he'd fall to the ground, grab the "wound" and toss the biscuit. He'd get weeks off work this way, tax free pay while on disability and $1000 or $2000 insurance settlements to augment his $36,000 a year salary. No moonlightinng for Bite Me!

Strange letter from old college buddy
Today, while taking a walk, I was lying
on the grass, and a van pulled up
nearby. A lady jumped out and yelled
if I was all right. She seemed a little upset that I was
doing what I was doing. I suppose I was daydreaming --
in the grass on the lawn near the Aquatic Center, and I
suppose I looked like I was in distress because I was
still. It's very nice that folks in Sequim notice old folks
like me, but it's a little difficult to daydream and watch
the clouds in a public place. I should carry some kind of
sign with me that I can drive into the grace along side
me that says: "I AM OK. I AM NOT DEAD OR DYING. I
AM MEDITATING. THANK YOU." This marks the third
time this has happened to me since I moved here. It
does say something about the aged population of
Sequim, doesn't it?

...clean, draft free air is continually drawn into a person's breathing zoneEasy cleaning and draft free ventilation due to dual function operation (hopper and in-swing casement window). The simplest controlled ventilation system uses a quiet, high-quality surface-mounted fan. Fresh air enters through passive vents located in window sashes or outside walls. Remote-mounted fans can pick up stale air from a single point. Or, they can be attached to a branched duct system with picks ups in two or three locations. This makes them a good choice for large houses. If properly rated, the fan could be attached to a range hood. Large houses and several multifamily units can be ventilated by a single multiport fan. Some units can accept a duct from the range hood. Most operate at two or more speeds. Several manufacturers sell complete kits with all the ducts and accessories. These may cost a bit more, but the kits simplify installation. If you want balanced operation, without the extra expense of heat recovery, these would be a good choice. Only one or two manufacturers make balanced ventilators without heat recovery. This type of heat-recovery ventilator provides balanced air flow and recovers up to 85 percent of the heat from outgoing air. By warming the incoming air, AAHXs provide greater comfort in cold climates than other types of ventilation systems. Units can be sized for any home and small commercial buildings. By employing a heat pump unit about the size of a window air conditioner, an exhaust air heat pump (EAHP) offers exceptional heat recovery efficiency. It can also provide most of the hot water needed by an average family. While the exhaust fan is controlled by timers, heat recovery engages only when hot water is needed. That means ventilation sometimes occurs without heat recovery. The operating characteristics of an EAHP lead to greater air flow than required for a typical small house. However, combustion and draft openings are still required for furnaces, water heaters, cooking stoves, fireplaces, etc. Heat Recovery Ventilation - NOTE : In some houses that employ combustion devices gas, oil or wood furnaces, water heaters, fireplaces, etc., a fresh air supply may be required to match the flows of exhaust-only ventilation systemFrequent Spillage From Combustion Appliances Can Be A Health Hazard - furnaces - water heaters - wood stoves - fireplaces - CMHC and others are studying ways to provide draft-free fresh air to match the flows of exhaust devices such as: kitchen range hoods - bathroom fans - clothes dryers - whole house vacuum cleaners - fireplaces - wood stoves - whole house ventilators

One of the great self-deceptions--and one of the great foolishnesses--is to tell yourself, 'Only I will know.' Only you will know that you are a liar; only you will know you deal unethically with people who trust you; only you will know you have no intention of honoring your promise. Whose knowledge or judgment do you imagine is more important? It is precisely your own ego from which there is no escape. -- Nathaniel BrandenThe Art of Living Consciously, The Power of Awareness to Transform Everyday Life The Syndicalist Black and Red Flag -
Branden says that self is not an illusion. I see a red flag. It crosses my mind often as I think about the book I'm reading, turn off the self, the clatter. Out of nothing, something, form.

Some of what I say may evoke associations with the Buddhist concept of "mindfulness." To be sure, there are some areas of agreement here--for instance, the importance of being present to what we are doing. (And sometimes I speak of living mindfully as a synonym for living conciously.) But there are differences that anyone familiar with Buddhism will recognize--for instance, I do not share the Buddhist view that self is an illusion (as I discuss in chapter 7). -- p. 65, Nathaniel Branden, The Art of Living Consciously, New York, Simon & Schuster, 1997

"Sometimes at that moment [of despair] a wave of light breaks into our darkness, and it is as though a voice were saying: 'You are accepted. You are accepted, accepted by that which is greater than you...' The phrase Tillich left you with was "you are accepted".... Millions now embrace this thinking. It can be the mental deductions for "living together", de-facto relationships, practising homosexuality, and more. Homosexuals have embraced the theology. It suits their aggressive pursuit of activity. Guilt has been banished. They declare that they are free - but are they? Their lives tell us otherwise. Simply accept the fact that you are accepted!"
